Wavekind by Yasmin Nguyen
From drive to embodiment
I never would have expected my breath to become the most sophisticated tool in my kit.
For much of my early life, I lived by mind over matter. I was driven, capable, and deeply motivated by questions of human wellbeing. By 14, I was working with a global health NGO, and that trajectory took me to complete my BA in Human Sciences at University of Oxford, an internship with the United Nations, research work in Brussels, and a fully funded master’s in Medical Anthropology at Peking University.
I was successful and purposeful. But in the background, years of constant movement across six cities alongside family health crises, grief, and prolonged pressure quietly pushed my nervous system into overdrive. I was always stressed, unable to rest or truly relax.
Why Breathwork?
Years of talk therapy had helped me to understand my challenges, but breathwork was a turning point because it revealed what intellectual reflection alone couldn’t: that the body keeps the score.
If the legacy of experiences can remain in the body, they must also be met through the body: gently, intelligently, and with care. Every therapist had always told me that I was incredibly “self-aware”, yet I struggled to physically feel my emotions. Through conscious breathing, I was able to see and physically release tension that had been held in the fascia of my body, understand my subconscious thought patterns, and connect deeply to that space of bliss that exists deep within.
How I work
I’m a nervous system–informed, trauma-aware breathwork facilitator working at the intersection of somatic practice, science, and contemplative traditions.
I’ve guided over 300 sessions across 7 countries and am a Visiting Practitioner at Asia’s Top Resort, Kamalaya Koh Samui, and am a Resident Expert Practitioner with COMO Shambhala group. I am also the Resident Breathwork Therapist at Bodywise Natural Health London and Move Well London.
I work most with people who are capable, reflective, and sensitive. Leaders, founders, creatives, and professionals who have often spent years trying to “figure themselves out”. Many come feeling anxious, numb, or stuck in patterns of people pleasing and self-abandonment.
My approach is soft yet grounded and precise, led by your nervous system. I don’t believe in quick fixes. What I offer is a grounded, intelligent space to release what is outdated, and reconnect to and rebuild your body’s innate capacity to respond to change.
The Breathwork Effect
Changing how you breathe can shift how you feel because there is a direct relationship between breath and emotion. This holds incredible promise for those who stuck in unhealthy habit patterns—whether in mind or lifestyle.
Breathwork activates your nervous system, encourages neuroplasticity, and releases “feel-good” hormones. Science has even found that it is just as effective as psilocybin therapy for creating mystical experiences for deep, root-causes healing.
Breathing and being in and with your body is the first step to reclaiming agency in your life. When you realise that you can respond to your thoughts and feelings, instead of being programmed by them on auto-pilot, you open yourself to living a more intentional, present, and fulfilled life.
The Wavekind Approach
Personalised to You
Each session is guided in response to where you are at that specific moment. This is not copy and paste healing—it is personalised to you.
Nervous System–Led
We go at the pace of your body—not your ego or mine. Slowness is strength. Everything is an invitation—this is your space.
Rooted in Body & Science
We work with what’s real: your breath and body. Grounded in trauma awareness, somatic inquiry, and the latest research, this is where experience and evidence meet.
Integration
